Gov. David Ige finalized five bills into legislation Wednesday dedicated to acknowledging and inequality that is correcting their state.

The five bills are separate between two signing ceremonies, one involving a set of bills commemorating days that are significant months, while the other launching economic defenses for susceptible everyone.

“In dedicating of each year to Kalaupapa month, we hope to inspire the people of Hawaii to remember the estimated 8,000 patients who were sent to Kalaupapa,” Ige said january. “And even though many of those had been divided from their own families and sent to Kalaupapa against their might, people there, inspite of the chances against them, arrived together to construct a community of caring, respect and aloha for every more and also for the wider community.”
